"Simply Fabulous Quilting" is a daughter/mother venture, with Tawny Oland doing the longarming, while her mom, Diane Rielly takes care of all administrative aspects of the business. Our philosophy with longarming is to provide personalized quilting that reflects your personality and compliments your piecing - ensuring that you as "the maker" will always be the star of the show! We are the tool that finishes your quilt and brings it to life!
Tawny has a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art from the University of Redlands, studying everything from graphic design and photography, to painting and typography. Never did she imagine her art degree would steer her towards longarm quilting - until Susan Gylling, the inventor of "A Quilters Eye," noticed her talents. She immediately realized her potential and enthusiastically said "let's get her on a longarm machine and see what she can do." Well, that one event sparked a new passion, and a great career - one that allows Tawny to put all of her skills onto fabric. Most recently Tawny has ventured into digitizing pantograph designs to make available for purchase - something she has been working on for some time.
For Christmas one year Tawny enrolled Diane in a quilting class as a gift, from not knowing a thing about quilting - or how to cut even - and overwhelmed by so much math!! Fast forward 15 years later, and she now has a tight group of quilting friends, and an ever growing passion to quilt! Diane now teaches quilt classes to what is lovingly referred to as the "Scandalous Monday Quilting Class" - mostly because you hear the roar of laughter and wonder if any quilting is taking place. This class is a family in every sense of the word, and the piecing they create is incredible!
We count ourselves lucky to be able to consider many of our clients extensions of our family, and among our closest friends. When you send your quilt out to have it longarmed for the first time, we know it is scary - especially considering how much time and love you have put in to you quilt top! We encourage you to ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable, and call us as often as you want with questions. That is what we are here for - to help with the final steps of completing your quilt.
We offer customized "fabulous" or edge to edge, while also offering traditional "simple" stippling type designs. Our edge to edge library is extensive, and we are always up for finding that right design for your quilt. All longarmming services need to be scheduled to see when the next availability is for the particular service you would like. You can always call us to get on the schedule in advance - when your top is complete, the longarm process can begin.
So whether you choose to have your quilt longarmed in a "simple" or "fabulous" design - we go to great lengths to ensure your quilt is exactly what you envision - truly a work of art and a labor of love!
